It is our greatest pleasure to introduce to you an exciting opportunity to enrich your knowledge with the sacred treasures of the Roman Catholic Church. In the past three years, the Hong Kong Tridentine Liturgy Community has been organising summer courses which aim to familiarise participants with the sacred music, liturgy as well as the usage of Latin language. This year, with two seminarians from F.S.S.P. as our honourable speakers, we are most delighted to host yet another 2-week intensive course in early August, which focuses on elementary Latin grammar and the practice of Gregorian chant.

The 2013 Summer Sacred Music and Latin Course intends to enhance one’s appreciation and understanding of Ecclesiastical Latin, a language which has been officially used by the Holy Roman Catholic Church for centuries, and Gregorian chant, reiterated by the Second Vatican Council to be given “pride of place” in liturgical music. Serving as an elementary course, it provides participants with basic knowledge of the pronunciation and linguistic structure of Latin language, as well as history and skills of singing Gregorian chant. Upon completion of this course, participants will be capable of pronouncing precisely a wide range of Latin vocabulary and sight-singing Gregorian chants at Mass.
